Henley Construct has landed the contract to deliver 60 affordable homes for PA Housing on the site of a former office building in Croydon. Demolition works are due to start imminently on the £12m scheme by specialist Southern Demolition.
Designed by Maccreanor Lavington Architects, the eight storey development will provide a collection of one, two and three bedroom homes at the corner of Surrey Street and Matthews Yard which forms the entrance to a regular weekly street market that has been in operation since the 13th century.
The market will be able to remain operational during construction and Henley Construct, which is part of the Henley Homes Group, will deliver the scheme using modern methods of construction.
Aaron Usmani, Henley’s Construction Director, comments: “We look forward to working on this site in Croydon, bringing much-needed affordable housing to the area.
“While lockdown is still in process we will be working with strict social distancing in place on this site to get the work underway – our employees’ health is paramount.
“Henley Construct has a first-class track record in delivering projects of this nature. Quality and detail are critically important to us regardless of tenure – people deserve high quality housing regardless of whether they are renting or buying.” The scheme is set for completion in late 2021.
