Design Magazine, the popular quarterly magazine from Ibstock Brick , returns for 2012 with a brand new issue featuring some of the most inspirational and innovative uses of alternative cladding from some of the most awe inspiring projects from across the globe. Featured in the new ‘Alternative Claddings’ issue is a recent project for the University West of England, which, using a number of innovative technologies and materials including Ibstock’s Elementix eco-freedom rainscreen cladding, helped deliver a new state of the art academic facility at the Bristol based University.

Andrew Halstead-Smith, marketing manager at Ibstock, commented: “Ibstock’s Design Magazine is now in its 30th year and as such, has become essential reading for architects and specifiers looking for new ideas and inspiration, as well as technical support and insight into the latest thinking in brick design and technology. “The latest issue is no exception – it is packed full of exciting and thought-provoking brick projects to get the creative juices flowing.”

The Design Magazine’s regular ‘Products in Focus’ feature reviews Ibstock’s Fireborn range of large format clay facade blocks and considers the different design options created by using different sizes of clay blocks and bricks. Meanwhile the ‘Back to Basics’ feature takes an in-depth look at Underslung Soffit brickwork.

In addition, the issue includes a special review of the recent and highly esteemed 2011 BDA Brick Awards, which was set up to recognise projects that illustrate real excellence in design and construction using brick. Ibstock was presented with an outstanding nine accolades in total from a possible 15, including the Best Public Building Award and the Supreme Winner Award 2011 – both for Belfast’s landmark Lyric Theatre.
