LG Electronics is all set to come up with the LG Advanced Cold Climate Heat Pump Lab in Alaska for development when it comes to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning – HVAC that goes on to perform in extreme low temperatures. The company went on to announce on November 6 that it launched the consortium for advanced heat pump research along with the University of Alaska Anchorage- UAA as well as the University of Alaska Fairbanks- UAF in Anchorage.

It is well to be noted that HAVC products, along with heat pump technologies, go on to perform poorly in severe cold scenarios as the pressure to compress the refrigerant gets reduced, thereby resulting in less refrigerant getting circulated.

In the polar regions of Alaska, new experiments can be conducted that take into account environmental conditions as well as variables like snow, rain, and even temperatures that are extreme and cannot be reproduced in the traditional labs.

Notably, LG Electronics is coming up with this laboratory on the UAA and UAAF campuses in order to develop a heat pump that can run at 100% performance. The interior of the lab is like a real home that’s complete with a living room, bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen. In this lab, the company will go on to test heat pump heating as well as cooling systems and heat pump water heaters.

Beginning with the LG Advanced Cold Climate Heat Pump Lab, the company looks to elevate its worldwide R&D units for HVAC solutions so as to enhance the competitiveness of the home appliances business.

As per a source from LG Electronics, as they go on to develop their new compressor as well as motors, which happen to be the core elements in terms of home appliances, they will go on to invest in R&D so as to take the heat pump technology to the next level.
