The Bahrain Ministry of Works has awarded a major contract worth $2.04m for the development of the Shaikh Daij, or Palace Road junction to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Project developer Atlas Transport, Contracts & Mechanical Services has now started work on the project and hopes to complete it by January next year.

The project specifically involves removing the roundabout and replacing it by traffic lights to improve the flow of traffic for users in the area, said Raed Mohamed Al Salah, director of road projects & maintenance at the ministry.
