UK-based Wates Construction Limited has completed construction work on a £20 million ($32.14 million) civic office building for Doncaster Council in Doncaster, Yorkshire in the UK.
The five-storey, 17,094 square metres building accommodates council chambers and flexible office space for about 1,600 people. The new office building brings together diverse public services facilities under one roof.
The council chamber is clad with coloured glazed terracotta baguettes. The corner of the building will feature a glass exterior, overlooking the streetscape. The building is expected to be fully occupied by November 2012.
Designed by a UK-based architecture firm Cartwright Pickard Architects, the project is aspiring to achieve BREEAM Excellent rating.
Wates has delivered the building for a UK-based developer Muse Developments Limited and forms a part of a larger £300 million ($482.19 million) Civic and Cultural Quarter (CCQ) of Doncaster Council.
