Weaver Valley Partnership has received an approval from the Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Strategic Planning Committee for the £80 million ($121.82million) Barons Quay project in Northwich, UK.

Sprawling over a 8.26-hectare site in the riverside, the Barons Quay development will be a 300,000 square feet of retail space, alongside a multi-screen cinema, major food store, hotel, restaurants, bars, shops, petrol station and additional free car parking.

Designed by Broadway Malyan, the project will take full advantage of the river frontage and will create strong links to the traditional shopping areas. The construction work on the site is scheduled to get underway by the third quarter of 2014 and is likely to be completed by the end of 2016. The project is estimated to create 1,400 jobs in the region.

The project builds upon another project, completed in 2007 with an outlay of £32 million ($48.72 million), to stabilise the unstable mines, located beneath the town centre preventing any significant growth in the past.
