ARCHIDEX 2013 (14th International Architecture, Interior Design & Building Exhibition) finally came to an end after 4 power-packed days of exhibition from 19 – 22 June 2013 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Once again, the significance of this exhibition continues to renew ARCHIDEX’s imperativeness in molding and upgrading this region’s architecture, interior design and built sector, thus, elevating the standards of practice not only in Malaysia but in South East Asia to becoming stronger than ever while leaving a distinctive footprint in the international scene.
ARCHIDEX is jointly organised by PAM (Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia/Malaysian Institute of Architects) and C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd on an annual basis. Held alongside the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival 2013 (KLAF) that organised several vital concurrent international conferences and forums under its belt that included DATUM:KL (International Architectural Design Conference) KLDF (Kuala Lumpur Design Forum) and the all-new PPF (Professional Practice Forum); all targeted to achieve a huge visitorship of 32,000 from both local and international architects, interior designers, consultants, developers, engineers and trade professionals from the relevant industries across the globe to meet and renew their insights on the current issues pertaining to the trade.
Debuted in 2000, ARCHIDEX is today’s most established and reputable exhibition for the built industry fraternity. A continuously growing annual exhibition, the industry’s not-to-be-missed significant 14th edition had targeted to achieve a visitorship of 32,000 over its 4-day duration across 8 halls. In total, 1,100 exhibition booths by 500 companies from as many as 12 countries including Austria, Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Philippines and Malaysia converged to impart and disseminate the latest industry know-hows on a more focused and extensive basis.
Overall, the response from delegates towards the scheduled conferences and forums were highly overwhelming. In total, 3,800 delegates participated in the said key international conferences and forums. The line-up of renowned star guest speakers hailing from India, Spain, Sri Lanka, Australia, Switzerland, Indonesia and Malaysia, amongst others, received astounding response from delegates. Their participation to speak at these key international events truly epitomised the greater good objectives that the organisers had hoped to achieve. Consequently, architects, interior designers, building and industry specialists all merged in a conducive environment which enabled the sharing, learning and identifying of tomorrow’s technology today while simultaneously business networking with the who’s who in the industry.
Not just a crucial platform to meet and rub shoulders with all key industry players, ARCHIDEX is also an exhibition that encourages and welcomes innovative state-of-the-art inventions in the architecture, interior design and built community. Thus, this year’s exhibition continued to award deserving exhibitors who dared to be different in an indifferent context. These go-getters of the industry were acknowledged and awarded with the New Product Award. Ideally, both organisers and visitors got to feast their sight and senses on an array of sleek and forward thinking designs on display. This dedicated sharing session by selected exhibitors enabled their companies to feature the latest details and technical facts of their respective products to the industry. The response gained over the 3 days of Biz@ARCHIDEX was highly satisfying.
The 4-day exhibition also successfully brought industry players closer together via a series of business and social networking receptions that took place. Some of these prominent events included the Designers’ Day and Architects’ Day that were organised by selected distinguished exhibitors at their booths, also the ARCASIA Networking Cocktail that provided an avenue for architects in this region to come together under the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCACIA) to foster and maintain professional contacts, mutual co-operation and assistance among member institutes to promote the recognition and development of architect’s role in society.
To top it all, there was the Building Industry Gala 2013 (BIG) that was jointly organised between PAM and ARCHIDEX. This was the night of recognition for winners of the Best Booth Design Awards and New Product Awards and indeed was the perfect highlight to conclude the social networking sessions for the building industry’s fraternity.
To reward all visitors who dedicated their time to visit ARCHIDEX 2013, a contest entitled “We’ll Fly you to Milan for Free!” took off and welcomed the participation of all visitors. To win, all one needs to do is to just collect 2 mandatory stamps on their boarding pass. This contest came to a close on day 4 of the exhibition and proudly saw two lucky winners happily walking away with a pair of tickets each to Milan.

About The 14th Malaysia Architecture, Interior Design & Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX)
Since its inception in 2000, the exhibition has been organised by C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd as International Design Exhibition (DEX), which mainly focused on the interior design industry. In 2005, the event name was combined together with Architectural and Building Materials (ARCHITEX), to become “DEX and ARCHITEX”; covering a wider scope for the interior design, architecture and building needs. At that time, Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia/Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) was co-organiser of ARCHITEX only, and in 2006 became joint organiser of DEX and ARCHITEX. In 2007, the exhibition saw a change to rebrand to ARCHIDEX. This exercise was essential to give the event a higher profile through the involvement of more participants in Malaysia and as well as overseas. ARCHIDEX is a trade exhibition.
