Royal BAM Group’s Interbuild has been awarded a joint venture contract to build the new head office for insurance provider AXA Belgium.
Interbuild will be responsible for half of the contract, which has been valued at around €40m.
The project involves renovating AXA’s three existing offices at Troon Place in the centre of Brussels.
Under the project scope, the middle building will be completely demolished and rebuilt with ramps, stairwells and elevators connecting various levels between the two flanking structures.

The facades will comprise a curtain wall with three layers of glass enclosing a decorated diagonal pipe system, while the base of the building will be lined with stone to match the adjoining historical structure.
Of the two outer offices to be renovated, Interbuild will add a new glass dome to the atrium at the listed building at Troon Place.
In addition, the building on the other side of the block will be taken down to the basic structure and redesigned, while its atrium roof will be dismantled to construct an open patio area.
The complex, which has an overall surface area of 32,800m² and 15,000m² underground area, has achieved sustainability certificates Passief 2015 and BREEAM Excellent.
Construction work is set to commence this month and the project is scheduled for completion by early 2017.
