A Bouygues JV has won three out of four contracts for construction of major new sewerage infrastructure in Qatar.
Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has awarded 11 projects under its Inner Doha Re-sewerage Implementation Strategy (IDRIS) as well as some road development scehemes.
Contracts were signed under the Inner Doha Re-sewerage Implementation Strategy (IDRIS) for the design and construction of the main trunk sewer project at a value of approximately QR3.2bn (£528m).
IDRIS includes construction of a 45km main trunk sewer in south of Doha more than 70km of lateral interceptor sewers. Work also includes the construction of a terminal pump station, in addition to the construction of the new Doha South advanced sewage treatment works. The main trunk sewer will have internal diameters ranging from 3m to 4.5m, and depths ranging from 20m to 55m. The project will start in the third quarter of this year and is expected to be completed in Q4 of 2019.
The joint venture of Bouygues Construction Qatar and UrbaCon trading & Contracting won contracts for three segments while IDRIS SHP Contractors won the fourth.
