Skanska has signed a contract with Highline Public Schools in Burien, Washington, USA to build a replacement high school. The contract value is USD 113.5 M, about SEK 1.1 billion, which will be included in the US order bookings for the third quarter 2019.
Skanska will demolish the existing high school and build a new 22,000 square-meter replacement school, which will serve up to 1,500 students. The project includes general and specialty classrooms, a theater and black box drama classroom, career and technical education spaces, science classrooms, multiple gyms, and tennis courts. Improvements to the 13-acre site will include courtyards and recreational areas, new student pick-up and drop-off areas, bus loading and unloading, parking for staff, visitors and events, and off-site improvements to adjacent city streets.
Construction is underway. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2021.
