Construction is set to begin on a new KWD900 million passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport in Kuwait.
The project will be executed as per a decision undertaken by the council of ministers of Kuwait in association with the Department of Civil Aviation. The new terminal will cover an area of a 6.8 million square metres. It will don a horizontal triangular form.
The passenger handling capacity of the new airport per year in the initial stage will be 13 million. It is expected that the passenger handling capacity will later be raised to 25 million annually and to 50 million gradually. The new facility is slated to open in September 2016.
A design team including Lord Norman Foster’s team will be incharge of the new airport. The new terminal will be converted into a regional station in the Gulf region.
