Norwegian construction firm Veidekke Entreprenor AS has signed a NOK425 million ($74.1 million) contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to construct the phase II of the Gulli-Langaker stretch in Norway. The scope of the contract includes expansion of the E18 road in central Vestfold from a two-lane road to a four-lane road with a central divider between Gulli and Langaker. A total of 24km of new road is to be constructed under three contracts. Currently, Veidekke is working on the 6.95km stretch between Holmene and Tassebekk stretch of the road project.

The current two-lane road is to be upgraded to new northward lanes, while two new lanes for southward traffic will be built to the west of the current road. The dimension class for the new road is S9 with a 100 km/h speed limit and a road width of 28m.The contract also includes asphalt and marking. Electrical/MRM work (management, regulation and monitoring) and local noise measures will be carried out under separate contracts.

The three-phase project will be executed in co-operation with Veidekke’s subsidiary Trafikk & Anlegg AS. Construction work on the road project is set to commence in 2012, and is to be completed in October 2014.
