Clugston Construction has started work on a £10m events hall at the Great Yorkshire Show Ground in Harrogate.

The 2015 Great Yorkshire Show took place in mid July. With the stands now all cleared away, Clugston has moved on site and begun demolition of existing exhibition buildings to make way for the new exhibition hall.

When complete in summer 2016, the new facility will provide 4,320 m2 of open span space.

The architect on the project is P+HS Architects, based in Stokesley.

Heather Parry, deputy chief executive of Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS), said: “We are delighted to be starting work on such an exciting project, the largest in our organisation’s history. There’s so much potential in this development for us, our region and beyond. The economic impact that events held at the showground generate per annum is currently £47m – this new project will see this figure increase significantly.
