Glasgow City Council has gone out to tender with a £70m infrastructure contract for one of its flagship regeneration projects.

Glasgow’s masterplan for the Sighthill transformational regeneration area (TRA) envisages a £250m urban regeneration scheme with 800 new homes and a new school campus providing sports and community facilities.

Sighthill, in the north of the city, is the largest of eight TRAs in Glasgow. It was proposed as the location for the Youth Olympic Games in 2018 but Glasgow’s bid lost out to Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Glasgow City Council has now published a contract notice for civil engineering works, including the delivery of roads, earthworks and utilities, as well as demolition and remediation.

The value of the design and build contract is estimated to be in the range of £65m to £72m and work is expected to take 40 months to complete.
