L&T Construction has secured orders worth over INR18.75 billion ($361 million) across various business segments in March 2012. The Power Transmission & Distribution IC secured new orders in both domestic and international segments. Domestic orders worth INR7 billion ($137 million) include an order from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board for the construction of 148km, 400kV DC (Quad) transmission line from Pugalur to Pandiankuppam in Tamil Nadu. The project will be completed in 18 months. The company has also won two orders for construction of substations at Malaysendra from Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation and at Jind, Haryana from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. International orders worth INR1.9 billion ($37.2 million) include those for the construction of a 220/33 kV substation and other orders for ongoing projects at UAE. In the Solar Business Unit, L&T Construction has secured orders worth INR1.4 billion ($27.4 million) from renowned developers for building a 5.75MW Solar PV plant on EPC basis in Rajasthan and general civil works for 1×125 solar thermal power project in Gujarat. The Building & Factories IC has bagged new orders worth INR8.4 billion ($164.5 million). These include orders for construction of residential apartments in Chennai and Mumbai from leading developers. A third order is for the construction of a mall in Bangalore.
