UK-based construction firm Morgan Sindall has commenced construction work on the new £3.8 million ($5.8 million) Hattersley District Centre in the UK.
The four-storey centre is a part of land owners Tameside Council and Peak Valley Housing Association’s regeneration master plan for the town. The centre will include a new 94,300 square feet Tesco Metro stores.
The centre will also feature a new public library, youth facilities, a community hall, offices for Peak Valley Housing Association and the Community Forum Association and a satellite office for the local police. The development will also include an under-croft car park that will provide spaces for 25 vehicles.
Morgan Sindall has already completed a 10-week programme of site-clearing works. The scheme is slated to be completed in August 2012.
