East Granby, Connecticut – based Seymour Elementary School and Allgrove Elementary Schools will undergo a major renovation and expansion project, which are part of a $11.8 million school expansion and renovation scheme of East Granby. The Seymour school will see transformation of its existing 20,000 square feet building and addition of seven new classrooms, a new cafeteria/kitchen and development of a new entrance. This work will increase the total area of the school by almost 11,000 square feet. The school will further witness reconfiguration of the site and a complete renovation of the interior and exterior of the building.
The reorganization of existing spaces will create a new media center and a space for music, art, special education, in addition to new administrative areas. The scope of the work at this school also involves modernization of building systems including heating, ventilation, lighting, electrical, technology and fire protection system. Further, the windows, walls, doors and roofing will also undergo major changes.
The Allgrove School will see replacement of its asbestos-tainted flooring with new flooring, installation of energy-inefficient windows, improvement in the electrical service and renovation of all classroom toilets, which will feature handicap accessible facilities.
