UK-based Graham Construction has been awarded a £12 million ($19 million) project by Sheffield University to construct its new Engineering Graduate School. The scope of work include demolition of a single-storey building at the intersection of Broad Lane and Newcastle Street and construct a new seven-storey building complex to house the Engineering Graduate School. The Graduate School comprises teaching, research and office space totalling 5,355 square metres GIFA over seven storeys for post-graduate and post-doctorate cohorts.

Upon completion, the facility will house collaborative and interdisciplinary research groups and has been planned to enable the growth of the faculty’s postgraduate offer. Construction work on the project is scheduled to commence in early 2012, and is scheduled for completion in mid-2013. Further, the university aims to build additional lecture theatres, teaching labs and flexible teaching spaces.
